Five Legitimate Work From Home Fees You May Have To Pay

If you have been coming here for a while you know that I’m constantly reminding you to never pay any fees when it comes to working from home. Most of you know by now that a sure sign of a scam is when someone or some company asks you for money. Normally, it is totally unacceptable to ask someone to pay a fee to apply for a job. However, there are times when you just may have to pay a real legitimate fee for working from home. Below I will list  five fees you may have to pay when starting to work from home. Remember this is not a definitive list and other fees can come up from time to time.  If you know of any other fees that we should include here let us know in the comments. Above all , be weary and complete your due diligence when it comes to applying for a job or getting involved in any home business. Best of luck!!

1. Job Search Databases

There are a few legitimate job search databases out there that require you to pay a monthly or yearly fee to get their updated list of jobs. Personally, I find this totally unnecessary because of the many free resources out there (this site included).;)

2. Resume services

Resume services are legitimate but again not necessary unless you just really don’t know how to create your own resume. On the other hand if you have been applying for jobs for a while with no offers you may need a resume service to help spruce up your resume.

3. Background check/credit check

Paying for a background check once you are considered for a job you’ve applied for is legitimate. However, in my opinion, in most cases the company hiring you really should pay the background fee. In the past my husband has paid a background fee in order to work for a company.

4. Equipment fees

Sometimes, in order to do a job from home, special equipment is required that you have to pay for or have taken out of your first check. For instance, if you apply for a medical transcription position, and are hired you will need to pay for the transcribing equipment.

5. Direct Sales/business opportunity start up fees – can range from $5 up to $100s+

When it comes to direct sales and business opportunities there are variety of start up and investment fees to start your business. Sometimes you have to pay a membership fee and other times you have to buy products and inventory to actually start selling products. Here’s a lot of good info from HomeWorkingMom to read over and carefully consider before starting any direct sales business opportunity.
